Students in Reaching for the Reins are required to attend school 80% of the time and pass 80% of their classes to stay in the program.

In comparing the data of students in the program to the general population of Cedar Lane, the results show Reaching for the Reins is encouraging students to perform better than their peers in both categories. In the 2011-2012 school year Reaching for the Reins students attended school an average of 17% more than their peers and passed 29% more of their classes.
